Birds of a Feather

This is my “Birds of a Feather” quilt by Barb Adams and Alma Allen. I had so much fun collecting the fabrics to do the color palette that I wanted for this quilt. Below you will see some of the blocks in this quilt.

Don’t you love the detail in the Blackbird Design patterns. I love their creativity.

What a fun quilt journey this has been. “Birds of a feather” by Alma Allen and Jan Patek of Blackbird Designs. For about a year I started collecting fabrics. I knew the color scheme I wanted was going to be in the browns, peaches, and pinks. The preparation of each little bird, leaf, flower and motif was like creating a beautiful world . If you look at my web site http://www. jinabarneydesignz.com you can see some of my other quilts that are also needle turn applique. My quilting buddies and I have each been working on our quilts ever since we went to a trunk show by Blackbird Designs at The Village Drygoods back in January 2008. I finished it by shadow quilting the whole quilt on my long arm machine and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.
