Spring 2014 International Quilt Market in Pittsburgh

Here we are at our 5th Anniversary for Riley Blake Designs. (That means 10 quilt markets) Our theme for the booth was “Catch the Wave”. We featured our new wave print and had a beach scene at the front of the booth. You could come and take your pictures and pretend you were on the beach surfing!!

Our first line was called Just Dreamy. We released Just Dreamy 2 at this quilt market. It was a fun celebration and a good memory to remember 5 years ago in Pittsburgh at this same quilt market.

You can see Brian helping some customers buy some new fabric collections.

The favorite thing in our booth was the display with the fish and jelly fish. Julia will be doing a free tutorial in June for the patterns of these fish. Stay tuned and check in at Riley Blake Designs cutting corners here.  The quilt with the beach cruiser will be one of my Butterfly Kisses patterns and will be ready early June.

The whale was another favorite and will also be a free download. Isn’t he fabulous!!!

Below is a quilt designed by Sharon and she will have the pattern ready by June also.

The Beach theme seemed to be a favorite and did a great job of featuring our new “Wave”.

Here we had all the basics displayed: knits, honeycomb, polka dots, quatrefoil, hexi, houndstooth and many more basic choices to choose from.

Look how cute these buttons are?

Those pillows are out of knit. There is also a fabulous aqua quilt by Monica Poole of Australia.

A vintage pattern using hounds-tooth.

A cute pattern called baa baa by Melly and Me from her new collection Home Sweet Home.

This is the panel from Home Sweet Home and each panel makes one of these cute bunnies.
It saves you choosing all the fabrics because everything is included in the panel including the instructions. If you know Melanie she does incredible stuffed animal patterns.
This cute chair below I found at a junk yard and repainted aqua. The cushion is a pieced union jack quilted and then wrapped around the old part of the chair to make it look brand new.

I think it’s new home will be in my office.
Look at this fabulous union jack made from buttons. Alexis spent hours and days creating this masterpiece. It was another favorite in the booth.

Look at Julia go!! She is doing make and takes with our customers.
They love it!! They made cute fobs for their scissors, bag or whatever they want to attach it to.

Lila Tuellers new line called Splendor.
A beautiful collection of florals and damasks on a larger scale.

This cute bag below is out of laminate and is a MacKenzie Mac and Co pattern.

Butterfly Dance designed by Natalie Lymer. This is such a sweet fabric line and includes a panel that can be made into a baby quilt.

Trail Mix by Bobunny turned out amazing and is a wonderful line for all the guys in your life. It has a few great outdoor prints.

The cute moose quilt is made from minky and cotton and is a pattern available through
McKay Manor Musers Patterns. They do a fabulous job of showcasing how minky can be mixed with cotton. They are so warm and cuddly.

Below is a new dress of mine called the Crisscross dress made from Lula Magnolia fabric line designed by Amanda Herring of the Quilted Fish.

The Crisscross Dress is a new pattern by Butterfly Kisses. I love how it turned out.
It is super easy to sew.

Sue Daley from Australia in her booth showcasing all her wonderful english paper piecing quilts.

Sue’s quilts are incredible!!

This is a vintage pattern using our quilted cottons.

These quilted cottons are so easy to use because you don’t have to line anything. It’s already lined.
I love working with this fabric. The possibilities are limitless.

Below is a cute apron that I will be doing a tutorial for Riley Blake Designs
Quilted Cotton Blog Hop Tour starting in June running through July.

This is Witch Hazel designed by October Afternoon. The top is a vintage pattern I used with a cute double bow-tie and the skirt is my pattern called Snowflake.

Rocket Age is another line by October Afternoon and is adorable for little boys.

The cute rockets are a pattern by Clare’s Place in Australia.
She does wonderful patterns with our fabric lines.

Here are my cats. Not sure if I will do a pattern yet, only if I get more requests.
They’re pretty heavy. They could be used as door-stoppers.
I placed rice in the bottom to weight them down.

You can see here our home dec fabric on the left. It is so fabulous for making pillows and curtains for the home but we also showcased how well it works for jackets and bags. On the right is Hollywood. It has a slight shimmer and makes everything look a little sparkly.

Here is A Beautiful Thing by Zoe Pearn. Another one of our Australian Designers. On the right is Fly Aweigh designed by Samantha Walker featuring another new pattern of mine called Above the Clouds. I have had requests for this pattern for the last 3 years.
It’s finally here and is available through your local quilt shops.

Here is a close up of the cute airplanes on the “Above the Clouds Quilt.” I love the quilting by Connie Atkinson.

Our first line with Chelsea Andersen of Pink Fig Patterns is called Floriography. It is so adorable. She created a small reading section here with slippers, teddy bear and all kinds of pillows.

Rosecliff Manor by Emily Taylor Designs is our black and white line for this release.

Another fabric line by Doodlebug called Home for the Holidays.

On the left is Lost and Found Christmas by My Mind’s Eye and on the right is our Riley Blake Designs Basics Christmas that is available all year and can be matched to all our basic colors.

This line is called Little Ark designed by Carina Gardner. The pattern for the owl is one of Freddies Friends. Her patterns feature a lot of these fun raw edged animals that are simple to make.
This was a favorite in Amanda’s Booth for the Quilted Fish. This deer is pieced and quilted and is available as a pattern. She used real deer antlers.
Lori Holt’s new line is call Vintage Happy. She always does a fabulous job with her wonderful patterns. The bra quilt was a favorite.
Market was a big success and it’s always so great to be home and have another quilt market done. There were so many ideas and lots of interesting people.

Hopefully you feel inspired to continue sewing and crafting projects, clothing and quilts.

Happy Sewing!

Jina
