20 years ago I started quilting with my friends in Alpine. I was homemaking leader and Paula McKinley had just moved from Loa, Utah and just started quilting. I asked her if she would teach a class. There were 8 of us and we met once a month. Our first project was a block of the month. Each month we brought our sewing machines and we actually taught each other how to quilt. 20 years later we are still going strong. I have no idea how many people come to “that alpine group” but there are usually more than 50 attending each week. Anyone is welcome to come. We meet the last Tuesday of the month in the little red chapel in Alpine.
This is my 2nd polka dot quilt I designed for my girls. I’ve made a different one and need to make one more. I have 3 girls and they love the polka dot quilts.
I designed this quilt for my son after he received his Eagle Award.
This is my Home Sweet Home Quilt by Black Bird Designs. I love their designs.
I was able to share my quilting journey. My sweet husband and daughter Tahmor(who just recently returned from living in New Zealand. My other daughter, Alexis, lives in Sydney, Australia) helped to carry load after load of quilts and projects. I showed some beginning quilts with darker colors and my transition to the bright bold colors. For the first 15 years all my quilts are hand quilted. Then Randy bought me a long arm machine and I now machine quilt all my quilts.
I also shared the process of taking artists design submissions from the computer screen to storyboards and then to the manufacturer who makes the fabric. I’m working my dream job at Riley Blake Designs by being the design coordinator with Cindy Cloward. I also design the quilts that help to sell the fabric to the retailers. Cindy and I work with the artists to create the fabric lines for Riley Blake Designs. We love it!
This is me at work with Cindy’s youngest, Eli. I designed this quilt for Butterfly Kisses and called it “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. I used the Riley Blake Designs Collection “Be Merry”
